Summer Student Positions Available

Visitor Counsellor / Digital Content Coordinator

The Digital Content Coordinator will be responsible for creating digital content that promotes local events, small business and our area’s primary tourist attractions. They will be responsible for connecting tourists with our community by engaging visitors on a variety of social media platforms.
The Digital Content Coordinator will:
· Promote a meaningful visitor experience in Oceanside and the rest of British Columbia
· Provide information on transportation, accommodation and attractions
· Distribute relevant travel publications to visitors
· Document visitor statistics according to Tourism BC guidelines
· Be an outstanding community ambassador at all times

They will dispense timely and relevant information via social media on topics that include: events, festivals, tidal information, campfire bans, ferry information, traffic information, fisheries information, along with status updates on local accommodation and businesses.

Education required:
Must be a student who is returning to high school (Grade 12) or post secondary school in September.

Experience & skills:
Preference will be given to students currently working towards a Diploma in Tourism, Recreation & Hospitality or Digital Media
A friendly, outgoing nature and dedication to outstanding customer service
Strong communication skills (a second language is desirable)
Knowledge of the Vancouver Island Region, Qualicum Beach and the Province of BC
Computer skills, using Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point and comprehensive web browsing abilities
Ability to work constructively alone
Experience in video and film production and social media expertise.

Visitor Counsellor / Event Ambassador

The Event Ambassador will be responsible for representing the Qualicum Beach Visitor Centre at local events that occur over the summer. They will work with other staff members and volunteers to achieve the goals of the VC, important one being to maximize the economic benefits of tourism to the entire community.
